Ukraine is well-recognized for its parks built by royalty, with sprawling woods, romantic designs, and tenderly preserved flora and fauna, but one park in particular is made for the artists. The park, laid out in 2001 in the city of Donetsk, is dedicated to handcrafted wrought iron works.

The Hutsul (or Hutsulschyna) region in the southeast Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains is home to an ethno-cultural group known as the Hutsuls (also Hutzul or Huzul). It is believed that this group moved into the Carpathian highlands between the 14th and 18th centuries. Despite the many changes in government over the years, the Hutsuls have preserved their unique identity and traditional way of life. Choruses in Ukraine can be traced back to approximately 1902, but the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus was established in 1918 in Kyiv, and was originally known as the Kyiv Bandurist Capella. The chorus was under the direction of Vasyl Yemetz and started with a mere fifteen members. During the 1920’s, the Kyiv Bandurist Capella toured frequently, until their existence came under threat as Joseph Stalin started arresting intellectuals and artists, and forced the group of musicians and vocalists to either break apart or flee the country.
